A class for people of all ages, from all walks of
life. Through this class we learn about God's will for us through
memorizing Bible verses and stories, singing songs of faith, engaging in
activities together, and sharing our faith. We learn about the
disciplines that help nurture us as we grow in faith and discipleship in
our daily lives: pray, study, worship, invite, encourage, serve, and
give
Unity has been asked to find a member who would be
willing to serve on the Lutheran Campus Ministry Board. Pastor Karen has
served on the Board for the past 6 years and is now retiring.
If you believe that campus ministry is a vital mission of
the church, then please prayerfully consider serving. Pastor Rebecca
Boardman of Lutheran Campus Ministry at WashU-SLU sent the following:
Based
on the uniqueness of our ministry, it seems helpful to emphasize we
function more like a nonprofit board than a church
council/committee. No one is too young or old to serve on the Board!
EXPECTATIONS OF A Lutheran Campus Ministry-St Louis BOARD MEMBER (3
year term):
interest in providing a Lutheran presence on St Louis college
campuses
attend quarterly Board meetings
attend our 2-3 annual fundraising events (currently Jan. Trivia
Night, Beer & Jazz in October)
serve as a liaison to your congregation: publicize LCM events,
sell tickets, recruit volunteers when needed, identify potential
donors, etc.
donate to Lutheran Campus Ministry
attend at least 1 event per year with students
commit to the fundraising, long-range planning, and staff
supervision needed to sustain the ministry.
If the
board member position seems like too much of a commitment---we are
ALWAYS looking for short-term volunteers to help with Trivia Night,
cooking, house-maintenance, etc. Thanks!
